Memorial Day...a time to remember. Usually it is a time to remember those who have served protecting our country. Sometimes it is a way to remember to those loved ones who have gone on. It doesn't have to be elaborate or overwhelming, we have several ways to help you keep your memories in a way that suits YOU!

Let's be HONEST!

I was just thinking today how I would LOVE to get some scrapbooking done...BUT, my house is a wreck and I am in the middle of a project that needs to be done very soon. I homeschool my daughter and we just started bowling for some of her P.E. credit! Add that to the usual laundry, cooking and cleaning (that isn't getting done) and I am pretty busy. Oh, and the garden needs planted and flower beds weeded.....not to mention I haven't spent a day with the grandkids in months! :(

I've decided that sometimes, it is just ok to say....I need a break! But you say, scrapbooking is relaxing, and you are right, it is fun and should be fun! And that's just the thing...I want to ENJOY it, not be thinking about all the things that need to be done and what I SHOULD be doing! Doesn't that go for most things we enjoy?

So, today, yes, right in the middle of National Scrapbooking Month, I give you and me, permission to NOT scrapbook. Instead. I am going to look out the window, no, I'm going to go out side for ten minutes and enjoy the wonderful day! Then, refreshed, I will tackle some of the deadline things and gradually work to finding my scrapbooking table again and make time for the craft I love.

But take time to get things in order. You'll enjoy it alot more! Take a deep breath! We'll chat about being a perfectionist next time! Meanwhile....relax.

Even though it snowed last night, it is already melting. Just like spring! :) It IS coming....just hang on a little longer. We've had some great days lately and I'm looking forward to getting outside and walking again and working in my flower beds and garden.

I also had a visit from a dear friend this weekend and we worked on flowers for her last daughter's wedding this summer. Been a long time since I did that, but it all started coming back quickly! So far we've helped marry off two of her three girls, my husband's four sisters and my sister, maybe a few others....hard to remember now! LOL

So are YOU preparing for a wedding this summer? I have noticed that most of the invitations I've gotten over the last couple of years are mostly handmade. I don't think people for the most part bother with printers any longer unless you are having a very large formal wedding. Just wanted to share a little of what I've been doing today! I have some college girls I've been trying to encourage and send them a little treat once in a while. Here is what I came up with for Valentine's Day.

The idea is not original with me. You can see the original here. Laurie freely shares her pattern for the printout! Thanks Laurie!

Then one of my grandson's has a birthday coming up and I saw a cute vinyl train online that you put pictures in and stick to the wall. So, here is my version. I think I am going to add some different colored wheels, then it will be ready!

I used Sure Cuts Alot and a free svg file I found on the internet and the tweeked it to get the windows for the pictures. This was much easier than I thought! I can't wait to see it in his room. :)

We have a nice bright, sunny day! Have YOU taken your snow photos yet? I think I have quite a collection with the four snows we've had this season!

Since this is the beginning of a new month and most of the country is "snowed in"....maybe you can take some time and record some memories.

Just this morning I was looking at some stuff and ran across a site that produces notebooks and journals to help you record your memories. Now, you can do that by week, month or I suppose daily. But it gave me the idea that sitting down at the end of a month and taking a few minutes to jot down what you did that month, maybe cute things the kids said or did, would be a great idea! You could keep a little notebook or journal close by and write it down as it happens or at the end of the month.

Then, when you go to scrapbook those events or daily happenings...you have already done the journaling or at least got the main ideas to give you a boost! So, hurry, before the day gets away or you get interrupted....jot down a few things you did in January. Especially about things you took pictures of!

Good Evening! What a whirlwind Christmas season! I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year! I am looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us this year.

We are recouping from our New Year celebration with our church family and chaperoning the teen girls for a slumber party. It's been a LONG time since I stayed up all night! So today has been a short day.

I also am excited about the new Impressions brochure we have for January. Did you know that January is National Papercrafting month!? I will have more about that later. I was able to read the book Everything Christmas this season. It was a joy. This book is filled with fun stories fit for the Christmas season, as well as lots of recipes, meal ideas and traditions from around the world! I enjoyed picking up this book and reading the daily offerings as well as seeing my family thumb through it and even read aloud many of the articles. This book makes a great coffee table book for the Christmas season! I would recommend it to all who share the love of Christmas.

Today as I was browsing through some digital scrapbooking sites, I noticed something. I had seen this before but it hadn't really hit me. Making Memories Monday

Ok, so today I would normally say, "we're not making memories today"....BUT, we are. Yep, it's the mundane stuff....dishes, laundry, grocery shopping...grading papers...but it will be a memory SOME day. I have never really scrapbooked the dailies. I really should do that!

So since it's a slow, catch-up day, I'll share a page I did over the weekend. It still needs some more pictures as you can see adn jouranling, but it's almost there and I like how it's coming along. Enjoy!

School is.....IN!

This week we started back to school. DD is now in high school! Where did the time go?! We are off to a good start so far. But I just wanted to let you know I am not really missing, just getting organized!
As you might know we homeschool, so I am very involved in DD's classes. To help me get some things done and be on hand for her, I moved a small table into the classroom so I can get some scrapbooking DONE and be available for her. I am excited about this. I can sit at my computer now and look up things or what ever while I scrap! I hope it works out. I didn't move everything up here from my usual workplace, but just things I am currently working on...kind of like going to a crop! :) I hope this might inspire some of YOU to rethink about your scrapbooking place and see if it is still working for you. Our lives take many twists and turns and it might be you need a new space or revamp your old one!

Busy, Busy

Just thought I'd pop in this morning and catch up a bit. Whew! What a summer! We are finishing up VBS tonite and school starts for us on Monday! I have been taking some time to get some things in order. Yesterday, it was the classroom. I had forgotten how much room is in here when i didn't have boxes of books all around! Clean is good. :)

My garden or what's left of if is a mess. Weeds 3 feet tall! Yikes. I did find the roses a week ago and if the cool weather holds out I'll search for the rest of the flowers. Other than tomatoes the rest is a bust I think.

But with the school year beginning, it is a nice start over time. So that's what I am doing. Forget catching up...just start over! Cleaning up and straightening the house in an orderly fashion is first on the agenda...then the scrappin' stuff! I might move a small table up to the classroom to work on things here. Hmmmm... it's a thought!

Wow! What a busy summer! I have been everywhere, or so it seems. We finally finished school for this year, just in time to go to Jr. High camp! I was privileged to be a dorm parent in one of the girls' dorms. I so enjoyed the girls and my time with them. We had a great week.

Then it was already JULY! I have been monitoring our annual convention in Washington D.C. this weekend. I have to tell you Close To My Heart has some great things coming! Our new catalog will be out on September 1 and on October 1 we will be able to have ONLINE GATHERINGS!!! YES! So, keep checking back for all the news!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Father's Day. My father is attending my nephew's wedding this weekend, so I won't get to see him and we live a few hours from both our fathers. My dh is preaching this morning and it is hard to get away. This is our second son's first Father's Day! I hope it is special for him. Our children are also scattered and busy, so it is dd and me! But, I still think of them all and wish them a wonderful day!

I thought I'd share with you a little project I put together for hubby. I saw a coupon code for a free 8x10 collage from Walgreens! I just added pictures, chose a layout, added the title and wala! I've been missing! Just temporarily. With a new grandson here, I've been spending time with them, trying to help mommy and give her a chance to get back on her feet! We spent a great couple of days with them this week and now it is time to catch up!

Do you always feel like you are catching up? I do. DD would LOVE to get school done, but we've taken alot of time to play with the "grands" and visit family this spring, so it will be a while. My challenge is to make it not so boring and still let her have "summer". I am working on a plan to help get that all accomplished!

I also am trying to finish some scrapbook pages for the older "grands". We took them to a play place last fall and I want to finish those pics. I did finish the zoo ones from October last week! Yeah!! I am trying to post pics but Blogger is a pain in the neck when I try to load pics. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! :)

So I will try again to load a couple of pics. These are from the play place last August and just the start of the many, many I need to scrap! What are YOU working on?

We are so thankful for the safe arrival of our new little "prince" and a healthy mommy too! Now, I need a new "prince" name! Hmm...any suggestions?

"Snap" and Chat Saturday!

On this cold, rainy day I'll share with you a little of what we've been up to this week! Everything from shopping for flowers to listing homeschool books we no longer need! This morning I started to trim my rosebushes from dead wood and ended up pulling weeds. Then my dear little Prince Dude called online, so of course Nana had to take a break!

I did get the new swing canopy done and in place. But as I went out to tip it so the rain would run off....I got soaked!

Lesson: Never stand in FRONT of the canopy and tip it toward you! What was I thinking?! (I'm washing the cushions for whatever good that will do.)

I just finished listing some homeschool books for sale....trying to clean out what we don't need! Anyone need 6th or 7th grade....8th to come!?

Favorites Friday!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens....

Ok, not necessarily MY favorite things! My most favorite thing is my family! I love spending time with them and hearing what they are up to in their lives. Now we are adding to our family, with grandchildren! What a blessing.

I love scrapbooking for the kids. My challenge is keeping up. So I have decided since we are increasing our tribe...that I would scrap a couple of pages most months and holidays for each grandchild. I think this will help alot. I could make them all the same...or change it up. Then if there is something special going on in their lives, I could always make pages just for that event.

The other thing I like to do is take pictures. I take way to many...so the reason for limiting my scrapbooking. It is nothing for me to take 200 pictures of an event. I just cannot scrap that many at one time. Life keeps moving on and I keep taking pictures! So I am taking my own advice and choosing the best and leaving the rest. Ok, after I get the zoo and Paradise Park pictures done! LOL

Family is the greatest! Where are yours? Are you keeping memories of YOUR favorite times?

Thoroughly Thoughtful Thursday

Wow! Thursday already! This week is flying fast. It is a day for pondering though. I have been researching how to help my dd who is a little dyslexic. We got her achievement test scores back and I can more easily spot where we need to concentrate this next year.

Today, for the blog I wanted to talk about journaling. Now most of us when we hear that, groan! I know personally, I have lots of pages with blank spots I left for journaling. But have never gotten back to them! :( So I ask myself...self...why is it so hard?

Journaling isn't really that hard. I think we expect too much of ourselves. We've heard how scrapbooking is telling a story. We think we have to journal a terrific, emotional story about each layout. Well, that just isn't true. Remember, that scrapbooking is YOUR story! You need to tell it from your perspective and in your own way.

Your way may be "just the facts". That is OK! :) I often make sure I at least put down the facts. Remember when you were in school and learning to write. What were the five "W's" you learned? Who, What, When, Where, Why. No matter if you are a "just the facts" type person or very emotional, you can use these five words to prompt you when journaling. "Just the facts" will get down who is in the pictures, what they are doing or the event, the date, the place and maybe a why it took place. Ms Emotional will embellish with all the feeling, color and smells...so you feel like you were right there. Now, both are right! At least the event and more important, the people are preserved. And they are preserved from your point of view. This way, the observer, can still have a good snapshot of what took place in that moment in these lives. Isn't that what we do this for?

Remember the goal...preservation of memories...don't make it harder on yourself than it has to be....go with the flow! Jot down some "w's", you might be surprised how much you journal! :)

Well, I've spent two days working on school stuff, trying to get caught up so the end of the year isn't so crazy! I also semi- packed some stuff in case my kids call and the baby is on the way! I will be just about ready to go.

Other than that, it has been dark and rainy most of the week. Perfect scrapbooking weather if I could only get to it! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of some material I ordered to replace the canopy on our swing. We moved it to the back yard and I think we will use it alot more there.

I also saw lettuce finally starting to come up yesterday! Yea!!! Fresh salads here we come....soon. So I am off to clean house, which is desperately needed, so I don't leave a dirty one behind when I get the "Nana" call!

Making Memories Monday

With Mother's Day so close, I thought this would be the perfect memory to share! Last Friday, we had our annual Mother-Daughter Banquet. I would have my only daughter there for sure, but thought, it would be so nice to have my only grand-daughter as well as my daughter-in-law. But, dear daughter-in-law is very pregnant and uncomfortable and lives 1-1/2 hours away. So, I didn't ask.

I got to the banquet and was helping in the kitchen a little when I heard the door open and in walked my son and grandson, Prince Charming! I said "What are you doing here?" Son said, "Going potty." Knowing how far they lived and being in shock at seeing them, I said, "You came a long way just to go potty. " LOL

Of course, dear daughter-in- law and darling grand-daughter, Princess Cutie Pie, came in to surprise me! What a memory! Princess Cutie Pie just hugged and hugged her Nana. :) The Lord even sent a labor/delivery nurse (friend of our speaker) to sit right across from dear daughter-in-law! It was a wonderful evening. Dear daughter-in-law definitely made a memory for me! :) Thank you!

Good Evening! Sorry to say there is not much scrappin' going on here tonite! I was busy today with my dear aunt. We have gotten to live close to each other for about 20 years now and that never happened when I was growing up. It has been fun to get to know her better and she has been very encouraging of my desire to know my family history better!

So, this morning I find out she is in the hospital in intensive care. I had just spent some time with her a week ago and she was chatting about getting older and passing on our heritage. So, I was a bit worried. But, thankfully, it looks like she got some ulcers from some meds. Not good, but better than something more serious! Anyhow, by the time we got to visit her, she was looking better.

I am thankful for my mom and how she has instilled in me the desire to care for my family. She always was on top of what everyone was doing and when their birthdays were....thanks mom! Then I had a wonderful great uncle by marriage that really helped keep my dad's side of the family together and in touch. We are all better for having him in our lives!

My heritage is rich in love but not much money. But between the two, I'll take the love! I especially appreciate my Christian heritage. Little did I know when I was small how many people prayed for us and how many really knew our Savior! What a blessing now, that many, many of my family are Christians and we have so much to share when we are together!

So, for Scrap and Chat Saturday....I am thankful...thankful for my heritage! It makes me what I am today and gives me strength to look to the future!

I do believe one of my favorite Close To My Heart products is our "how to" books! They make it so easy to just sit down, grab a paper packet and scrap away! I can take a book, open it up and just make page after page, ready for pictures. The "how to" books are easy to follow and give pictures of finished pages that help me with embellishment ideas!

We now have three scrapbooking "how to" programs and two cardmaking programs. The scrapbooking programs are Cherish, Imagine and Reflections. I am not sure I have a favorite as I use all three! These make it so easy in working on my grandchildren's albums before they are born! I just make the pages and add embellishments as I go or later after I have pictures. Either way, I get ahead in the challenge of keeping up with my growing family!

Our cardmaking programs are Wishes and Originals. They also, give you step by step directions and patterns for your cards. As well as, examples for those of us who are creatively challenged. :) Or just too busy to use your brain on one more thing! It is so nice, the thinking is done for you! They all show you how many pieces of coordinating papers you will need and how to cut them. Then, step by step direction to assemble....how easy is that!?

You've been seeing alot of flowers lately on cards and scrapbooking pages. Here is one I made for a giveaway. It is a decorative band that could be used on a scrapbooking page as a border and a card.

Here are a few step by step pics!

I used six circles about 1"-1-1/4". I then inked the edges of each circle and folded in three sides, allowing them to overlap a bit. Next, I glued each of the six triangles, side by side to another circle for the center. I opened the outside flaps and stamped them with a patterned stamp. This forms my flower.

We are going to do some shopping for Mother's Day and go out for supper... A pretty low-key day, but it has had a nice start so far! Meanwhile, enjoy a picture of dd's breakfast. (yes, those are our wedding rings on the napkins)

Making Memories Monday!

One of the "big" things recently has been to document the everyday things in your life. Sometimes it is called "365 days", or maybe "a day in the life of...". Mainly, though it is documenting the daily, often mundane things we do. On the surface it might seem like a strange thing to do, but when you think of it, what do we remember?

Sure, we remember huge events, birthdays, major things in our lives...but we also tend to remember, (or at least I do) summers with nothing to do but play outside....how the rain looked on our sliding glass door as it ran down the length of it and made the ground look sliced. I remember the little earthquake we had one day as well as having a "club house" in the "woods". I remember how soft the new grass felt under a bush a friend and I liked to go to, to share secrets. I remember my mom ironing. I remember cleaning my room every week and rearranging it. ( I don't like change now!)

What do you remember? Many times it is the simple, everyday things. Wouldn't it be so cool to have pictures of those now? I could journal forever then! Try it. This week, take a few pictures of the everyday. Make a layout and share it with me! If you email me a pic, I will post them here.

It's National Scrapbooking Day! Do you know where your scrapbooks are? :) I hope to get some scrappin' done today! :) I need to put some stuff away also. What are YOU doing today for NSD?

This has been such a busy, busy week! Sorry I didn't get to post a favorite thing yesterday. I was preparing for our annual Mother-Daughter Banquet at church and the day just flew. We had a great time though! I had a wonderful surprise...my only granddaughter and one of my dear daughter-in-laws (the one who is VERY pregnant!) came for the banquet. Thank you!!! It was wonderful to have them there and what a great surprise.

Speaking of Mother's Day....any great ideas? I've been so busy, I need to get moving on it. I need to mail our gifts so time is running short!

I had a good time in Lee's Summit this week with some friends and new friends, scrapbooking! I think we are going to make it a monthly event. I called it "Get 'er done!" and they did get lots done...one friend got at least 10 pages made plus a small book. Got to spend the night though when I do that...getting home at midnight was not fun. :)

Well, I think next on the agenda is get my garden out! I have my little tomato plants that I babied all week from the crazy wind we've had. It was supposed to rain today, but alas the sun is out...hmmmm looks like gardening is up next! I like the sun. :) But rainy days are nice for doing inside stuff too! Like scrapbooking! :)

Well, this is pretty hodge podge today, but that's how my brain works these days. AND that's what Scrap and Chat Saturday is all about! What's on your agenda? If I get to scrap, I want to finish...finally, the zoo pictures of my grandkiddos.

Throughly Thoughtful Thursday!

Well, if that isn't a mouth full! You know that the most important part about scrapbooking is telling the story. But if you don't journal...no one knows from looking at the pictures what you were feeling and maybe not even what the occasion was! Journaling is very important and we often tend to leave it out. We get so busy, that just getting the pictures on the page is all we feel we can do.

Ok, today we are going to work with the basics. First, promise yourself that every page you finish will have some journaling on it! That sounds tough, but here is what I want you to include. Names....75 years from now, no one is going to know who these people are! Believe me, I've done enough genealogy research to know you can't guess later. Even our children's baby pictures sometimes fool us, and I'm not that old yet! Tell us who is in your layout.

Next, where is it happening? Just jot a place somewhere on the layout. I often just write a little caption under a picture. At least it helps me to remember where we were at the time. This also helps get my mind going and sometimes I think of things I hadn't thought of in a long time!

How about a date? If there is a date, you can figure out how old someone is...or it might help place the event in your mind. Or even help with where it was taken. Dates are things we will want to remember later and won't be able to...include it!

What is the event? So, what is going on in the pictures in your layout? Is it a birthday? A holiday? or just a get together...maybe a family reunion...maybe just the dailies...even those are interesting many years later! Just briefly tell what is going on. We can embellish later!

Just these four things will at least help tell the story in the pictures and if you can get them down, it is a start! So start today by at least putting names, dates, places and events on your layouts. I know it's just the facts...but it's something!

This week is going fast! I've been busy with school for my dd and working on our Mother-Daughter banquet. For school, we finalized the plan for dd's high school years. We homeschool, so, now I know what to prepare for! That was a HUGE weight off my shoulders!

For the Mother-Daughter Banquet, our theme is Butterfly Moments. AND...I've been making butterflies. Now, I am not THE decorator for this thing, but had a couple of "embellishments" I wanted to make. :) So, here are my butterflies. I used my Cricut Expressions and SCAL to cut them. It was so nice to have twenty of these little ones cut in just a few minutes! I will do some lettering in a bit too. Some of these on the table are going on a wall. Then, there were the little ones for the pixie stix. Is this just too cute!? These will be the favors on the tables.

We are having a picnic motif, so everything is pretty casual. We'll have picnic baskets around with quilts and flowers. I think we are having "trees", made of branches with fake leaves on them... I am setting up a croquet set and butterfly craft for the little girls too! We have a good speaker and our teen girls are singing as well as three ladies who are related. Oh, of course fried chicken and salads...just like a picnic! I think everything is finally coming together!

Technique Tuesday!

Have your been hearing alot about the "puddle pad"? This is a fun technique using baby wipes, re-inkers, a clear stamp image and block and your paper project! The idea is to get a "tie-dyed" look with your image.

Take a small stack of baby wipes, maybe 4-5 and stack them on a non-porous surface. Our clear Acrylix Blocks work great! Next, ink your image and stamp it onto the baby wipes. Now you have an outline to follow. Take the re-inker of your choice and outline that image on the baby wipes. It will bleed some and that is ok. That is the look you are going for! Next, color in any parts of your image with another color (s). Last but not least, take your image on the block and ink it up on the baby wipes with the ink you have placed there. Stamp the image onto your cardstock, pressing straight down and lifting straight up. There you have a fun, tie-dyed image to use on your project!

Making Memories Monday!

Ok, I am not going to say "Good Morning" since it is almost NOON! Yikes, but I am going to share with you today a making memories opportunity! Think....Birthdays! :) Yep, birthdays have always been important to me and my family. I have tried to make each one special in some way and miss having us all together now for them.

It so happens that DH's birthday was yesterday! :) Now, Sundays are very busy around our house since he is a pastor and birthdays can be a challenge...but with a little help from our church family, I think he had a pretty nice day! We started with letting him open his presents before church in the morning. DD and I had already planned to have a mini scavenger hunt for his most unexpected present. We wrote in our cards the clues and as he opened our presents, he got the next clue to where his surprise was! Then, eventually, he found his "re-gripped" golf clubs, outside, in his golf bag! Great idea to hide them in plain sight! He was pleasantly surprised, not only at the grips, but that I had his putter straightened out! (Yes, it looked like he hit a tree with it. :) )

We took pictures as we went along. Then after church I had a "favorite meal"of sorts. I had a roast ready in the crock pot with all the trimmings and salad. He was a happy camper. He got a nap in the afternoon and after our evening service, we had our monthly fellowship. But this month, the church got him a cake and a friend and I were hosting, so we "embellished" a bit!

Since he was born in the 50's, near Roswell, NM, he had already put the tables in a 51 shape. (Yes, he was 51.) We thought of doing aliens but couldn't find anything suitable. Still made for fun jokes. She found candy and gum that was popular back then and had a gift bag with lots of treats and a large candy bowl for our "guests". Then DD and I got balloons and tied Snickers mini candy bars to them to hold them down on the table. Many brought him cards and some gifts. He was a happy pastor! All this and real food too! We always have potluck for these fellowships and there was a great variety of comfort food. :)

I think the pictures show you he had a great day and many memories to cherish. I hope it helps you see, your celebrating doesn't HAVE to be elaborate. Add some special touches, friends, food and you have FUN! We have always tried not to get caught up in the "bigger and better" birthday celebrations.

For our children, they had a party with friends on their 10th, 13th and 16th birthdays. These would be themed, like a tea party, Leggo party or miniature golf. We would "go all out" for these. Then the birthdays in between were usually spent with family. We would have over who ever happened to be close, grandparents, maybe aunts and uncles and cousins, depending on the time of year and who was available. Then we would have cake and ice cream. Very simple, but lots of memories!

Well, I finally decided what to do to help me keep up on blogging...or do better at least! I have a plan for most days of the week, so I hope it will help me put some useful information up here! So, here is the "plan". Life does get in the way sometimes and that takes priority, so if I don't make every day, I at least should do better! :)

Monday will be Making Memories Mondays. I will try to share some of the things I like to scrapbook. Maybe give you some ideas of things that "make a memory". You might be surprised.

10 Scrapbooking "must haves" for under $10!!!

With this economy everyone is looking for a "deal". Me included! Close to My Heart took a poll asking what were the favorite, cost-effective products. Today I am going to share those top ten with you! These products, not only offer you versatility, as they can be used with most any artwork but, they also are quality products that make your projects great!

1. Mini-Medley Accents are embellishment packs for under $8 US and many for under $6! They coordinate perfectly with our paper packets and there are enough items to embellish several projects. Beginning cardmakers or scrapbookers can use them with ease.

2. The Edge Distresser is under $3 US and pairs nicely with our white core cardstock! It is a long-lasting, durable tool.

3. Bitty Sparkles give you 100 for under $3 US! Now you can add "bling" to any paper packet or embellishment. Our piercing tool helps making placing your Bitty Sparkles easy!

4. Our Piercing Tool Kit is under $6 US and includes a piercing tool, sewing needles and self-healing pad. It can be used with stitching techniques, ribbon, brads, Sparkles, and buttons. The piercing tool has a wooden handle and is a versatile papercrafter's tool.

7. Our Sponge is very affordable at under $2 US. There are many techniques that you can use this for and I cut mine up to use for different color families. They are durable and washable. They will last a long time! Use with our Exclusive Inks, chalks and distressing inks!

8. Dimensional Elements are under $7 US and are sturdy, white chipboard. They can be covered with B& T paper, painted, chalked or inked. They store easily and are very versatile.

9. Memory Protectors Flip Flaps are one of my new "favorites"! You get 15-4x6 pocket protectors for under $4 US. They work for both classic and Studio J layouts. Make your pages interactive or just add extra pictures!

10. Texture Tools cover all your distressing needs! For under $3 per tool, you can add any kind of distressing with inks, chalks or paints to your layouts or papercrafting projects!

Ok, so I've been slowly climbing out of the pit my house has become since I had surgery. Today, I was determined to find my scrapbooking table. Not only have I been mia, I was gone for a month before that and tore through stuff to decide what to take with me! Thus, the mess.

To be sure I made this goal today, I invited a new scrapbooker over to get some things done tonite! SO, I HAD to find the table. Mission accomplished. So that is my new motto "get er done!". I will be planning some crops each month to help YOU get 'er done too!

Off to supper and an evening of scrappin'!

So many pictures...so little time! I think one of the hardest things about scrapbooking is ALL those pictures! It is wonderful having digital and not developing pictures that don't turn out. But, it can be quite overwhelming when you see how many pictures you actually have taken. I am going to challenge you today to take a hard look at your pictures. Maybe in a different way.

First, choose an event. It might be a big event like a birthday or wedding...or it might be an everyday event just documenting what life is like at this point in time. Either way, spread out your pictures from your chosen event.

Next, think about what was involved in that event. Are there specific things you want to remember? If it is a birthday, it might be the cake, blowing out the candles... If it is a day at the park, it might be the slide, swing or just a cute pose of your children outside.

Third, sort through the pictures and choose the ones that capture those special memories.

Now, we all get good and not so good shots....look long and hard at the pictures you have chosen. Which ones are the best? If you are an experienced photographer, you might have a harder time with this, but really concentrate on the quality of the pictures. Choose the pictures that are clear and the lighting is good. Choose the ones that capture the emotion of the moment or person. Choose the ones that tell the story.

Lastly, look again. Yes, look at each one again and at the ones you've chosen as the best and see if they really are the best. If you will use this process, you will cut down on the number of pictures that you scrapbook for any one event. You will not be sooo overwhelmed. Free yourself. Give yourself permission NOT to scrapbook every picture you take. Coming from someone who takes a minimum of 200 pictures of her grandchildren at each event....I can guarantee you I will be doing more and more of this! Especially as we add grandchildren! :)

Remember the purpose of scrapbooking....leaving a legacy, a story of an event, a moment in time to remember...Happy Scrapping!

Prince Dude!

Ok, one more picture of our little guy! I have to tell you about his "name". I don't use my grandchildren's real names on my blog. So, I have nicknamed them. I have Prince Charming and Princess Sweet Pea....well, now we have another little one and I couldn't think what to name him. I tried for days to figure it out.

Then, his dad kept calling him "Dude". "Hey, Dude. Wake up Dude." So, my darling daughter and I thought that would be a cute blog name for this little guy. I am sure he will live up to it!

Without any further ado...I introduce to you "Prince Dude".
I'll be back soon with regular posts. Since, I've been otherwise occupied, I am now in the catch up mode.

Baby!

I would like to introduce my newest little grandson...one week old! He is a good baby and I am trying to pack in all the hugs and cuddles I can to hold him over for the next few months! Thank you to all who have left congratulation comments! I really appreciate it! Oh, and Mommy is recovering nicely and both Mommy and Daddy are getting some sleep now and then. :)
